Letter From the Chairman
The last several months have been very exciting times for Commerce International. Much progress has been made on many fronts and much enthusiasm has been building for our “franchising approach” to international business development.
We believe that any business can “capitalize knowledge” and thus can speed its development of opportunities internationally by considering the “franchising” model.
Many successful U.S. companies in the transportation, energy, communications, and information technology industries can benefit enormously by sharing their technology and business knowhow with similar companies in other countries. This helps “leapfrog” their economic development, therefor they do not have to “reinvent the wheel”.
Such “franchising” opportunities do not require the U.S. companies to expend vast sums of capital. Instead, a sharing of technology and business practices (capitalized knowledge) helps the company in the other country grow more rapidly. The U.S. company can take stock and a percentage of increased revenue in return. This program also creates investment opportunities for international mutual funds, while at the same time producing new sources of income for the U.S. companies.
Because a franchise is really just a way to capitalize knowledge, we believe that it should also be a financible export. Thus we are pleased to be working with government agencies, like The Overseas Private Investment Corporation, EXIM Bank and the U.S. Department of Commerce to develop a solid finance package to support our franchise approach internationally.
We hope all of our clients and potential clients will consider our “franchising” model as a method to expand international business opportunities without having to expend enormous amounts of finance capital.
Such efforts will help us complete our mission of creating new and expanded international markets for United States businesses while accelerating economic development in the targeted nations of the world.
